Multidisciplinary Artist
Ricardo Dieguez is a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges fine art, cultural memory, and spiritual symbolism. Rooted in Afro-Cuban heritage and shaped by decades of artistic practice, his paintings explore ancestry, identity, and the unseen forces that shape human experience. Through layered color, intuitive symbolism, and archetypal imagery, Ricardo creates visual narratives that invite reflection, remembrance, and inner transformation.
His work is informed by extensive study of ancient civilizations, mythological systems, and spiritual traditions that span the earth. These influences emerge organically in his art, not as literal illustrations, but as living symbols. Goddesses, orishas, ancestors, and elemental forces are reimagined through a contemporary lens, allowing each piece to function as a visual vessel for personal meaning and emotional resonance.
Ricardo’s creative process is meditative and instinctual. Often beginning with silence, ritual, or intuitive gestures, the work unfolds through an internal dialogue that allows the image to reveal itself naturally. Layers are built patiently until the piece reaches clarity and presence. For him, completion is not merely technical, but experiential, defined by the moment the artwork begins to communicate on its own.
While widely recognized for his large-scale mural work, Ricardo approaches public art with the same intention as his studio practice. His murals are extensions of his fine art, designed to honor culture, community, and place while creating environments that uplift and inspire. His work can be found throughout South Florida and beyond, including collaborations and presentations with Ninth Lineage, Moksha Arts Collective, MUCE 305, Art Kreyol, Afro Roots Festival, Uptown Avenue 7, and commissions for the City of North Miami and the City of West Palm Beach. His work has also been presented in cultural and museum contexts, including the Miami Museum of Art.
At the core of Ricardo’s philosophy is the belief that art is a conduit rather than a possession. Once created, the work no longer belongs to the artist, but enters the world to be interpreted, felt, and lived through by each person who encounters it. In this way, the art becomes participatory, carrying diverse meanings while remaining rooted in a shared spiritual current.
Vision Statement
Ricardo’s vision is to create art that carries ancient stories into modern life. Through painting, storytelling, and presence, he seeks to reconnect people to cultural memory, spiritual wisdom, and a deeper sense of belonging in the present moment.
